Compared with factory headlamps, custom headlights means certain changes upon original headlamps, adding components that do not exist before, such as headlight lens, halo rings, LED strips, decorative shrouds...
1. Two way to update your headlamps.
Generally there are 2 ways to customize your headlamps. (click here to get people's motives to upgrade their headlights)
First, replace the whole factory headlamp with custom headlamp assembly. Second, directly make some modifications in the original headlights. Both of the 2 methods have their own advantages and disasvantages. Here we will explain in details of the second method.
2. Two different headlamps.
Different headlamps have different inner structures and features. There are mainly 2 types: reflector headlamps and projector headlamps (click here to see more of headlights category). Many different retrofitting can be applied to each headlamp with different automotive lighting accessories, making personalized customization possible.

3. Four way to update reflector type.
3.1 LED bulbs replace halogen bulbs directly.
For the halogen reflector bowl optics headlamps, no matter with only one reflector bowl which has integrated low beam and high beam or with two bowls that have separate main beam and dipped beam, the easiest way is to change original bulbs, such as using proper LED aftermarket bulbs. In this way, there is no need to open the front transparent covers.

3.2 LED strip light install.
But it is a must to open headlamp covers for most of other custom methods.
Another simple and cheap way is to add only led strips or LED angel eyes inside the headlamp to be daytime running lights or turn signal lights as well as an attractive styling.

3.3 Headlight projector lens install.
Upgrading bi-xenon or bi-LED projector lens is more complicated, 1 pair or 2 pairs for a dual reflector bowls headlights to double the light strength. Though different sizes for the high beam bowl and low beam bowl, ROYALIN has many sizes of headlights lens for you to find the most suitable one, 3.2 inch, 3.0 inch, 2.8 inch, 2.5 inch, 2.0 inch, 1.8 inch... Beisdes, decorative shrouds, with halo rings or not, are there for those bi lens. To pursue cooler style, people also choose demon eyes, single color or RGB colors.

3.4 Headlight chrome kit install.
Different trim levels of a same car model are provided with various headlamps. The low-level car owners want the high-level stylish headlamps, then ROYALIN headlights chrome retrofit kits is a good choice for them. The retrofit kits is to replace the whole inner reflector with a new advanced one as well as bi xenon or bi LED lens.

4. Projection type headlight update.
For headlamps equipped with projectors, the modified methods are similar but still has certain differences.
For halogen projector, we cannot directly change halogen bulbs to xenon bulbs because of their different size and focal point. The original projector must be replaced with new xenon lens for hid lamps. With the help of ROYALIN adaptive frameworks to hold the new projector, sometimes there is no need to open the front covers but install them backside.

It is not easy to add new shrouds to those headlamps, but certain ROYALIN halos or angel eyes can be put in front of the projectors. If the high beam is supported by a reflector, suitable bi lens is a good choice, thus, four projectors in one car, greatly increasing the light width and intensity.

To do mordern custom headlamps is a technical job, so we suggest skilled people to do headlights retrofitting in case of unproper works causing driving danger.
