Toyota Camry Headlight Retrofits from 2018 to 2026

Search for a Toyota Camry headlight retrofit and it is easy to find parts listed simply by vehicle year.

That can make the job look straightforward.

A 2019 Camry needs one bracket.
A 2025 Camry needs another.

In real retrofit work, however, the model year is only the starting point.

The actual headlight design determines how the projector mounts, how much space is available inside the housing, which original parts can be reused and what electrical work may be required.

Royalin currently has two documented Toyota Camry retrofit references covering very different headlamp architectures:

  • a 2018–2022 LED headlamp configuration;
  • a 2024–2026 US-spec headlamp configuration.

Both are Toyota Camry headlights.

But the retrofit logic behind them is very different.

The Vehicle Name Does Not Define the Retrofit

“Toyota Camry” is a useful starting point for identifying an application.

It is not enough to define the internal retrofit solution.

A projector retrofit depends on details such as:

  • original headlight type;
  • internal mounting points;
  • projector dimensions;
  • rear housing depth;
  • original clips and adjusters;
  • wiring configuration;
  • DRL and trim structure;
  • OEM or aftermarket housing.

This is why a professional retrofit supplier should match parts to the actual headlamp rather than relying only on the vehicle badge.

The two documented Camry cases show this clearly.

2018–2022 Camry LED Headlight: Projector Fitment and Rear Space Matter

The 2018–2022 Toyota Camry LED headlamp retrofit case starts with the pictured LED headlamp configuration.

The projector is replaced using a vehicle-specific bracket while several original mounting components are retained.

Original clips are transferred to the new bracket, helping the replacement projector follow the factory mounting structure.

But the bracket is only part of the compatibility question.

Rear housing space also matters.

The documented installation requires the identified rear housing area to be heated and pressed outward to create enough space for the replacement projector.

That means two projectors with similar lens diameters can still behave very differently inside the same headlamp.

Rear body length, fan position and heat-sink dimensions all affect fitment.

Fan and Non-Fan Versions Also Affect the Electrical Side

The 2018–2022 LED reference includes another detail that is easy to overlook.

The original projector may be a fan type or non-fan type, and the corresponding dummy load needs to match that configuration.

This is not simply a mechanical bracket problem.

The retrofit also has an electrical matching requirement.

The dummy load should be selected correctly and mounted in a suitable metal position for heat dissipation.

For retrofit shops, this means a useful pre-order check should include photos of the original projector and connector—not only the outside of the vehicle.

2024–2026 US-Spec Camry Uses a Different Retrofit Structure

The 2024–2026 Toyota Camry US-spec projector retrofit case follows a different architecture.

This setup uses:

  • separate left- and right-side brackets;
  • additional bracket hardware;
  • direction-sensitive plastic components;
  • projector-position adjustment with washers;
  • DRL removal and restoration;
  • white light-guide restoration;
  • low/high-beam wiring verification.

This is not simply an updated version of the 2018–2022 bracket.

The entire mounting environment has changed.

Projector Thickness Matters on the Newer Headlight

One of the most useful lessons from the 2024–2026 reference is that projector size cannot be judged only by lens diameter.

Two projectors may both be described as 3.0-inch models while having different:

  • flange thickness;
  • body depth;
  • mounting offset;
  • front protrusion;
  • rear housing dimensions.

In the documented US-spec Camry setup, washer spacing is used to help position the projector according to its actual thickness.

That position matters because the projector must align correctly with the surrounding trim and front optical structure.

So a bracket can match while the projector itself still requires dimensional verification.

This is an important distinction for distributors and retrofit shops ordering different projector models for the same vehicle application.

Original Trim and DRL Structure Are Part of the Retrofit

The newer Camry case also involves more front-end trim interaction.

The DRL and white light guide are removed during the process and later restored.

That means the finished retrofit has to satisfy more than bracket fitment.

The projector must sit in the correct position so that the original trim and lighting elements can return to their intended locations.

This is one reason why vehicle-specific retrofit parts are designed around the complete headlight architecture rather than only the projector mounting holes.

The Two Generations Solve Different Fitment Problems

A simple comparison makes the differences easier to see.

Retrofit Detail 2018–2022 LED Headlamp 2024–2026 US-Spec Headlamp
Main reference Pictured LED headlamp Pictured US-spec headlamp
Bracket concept Vehicle-specific projector bracket Side-specific bracket system
Original hardware Original clips transferred Additional bracket and directional components
Main clearance issue Rear housing depth Projector position and trim clearance
Projector consideration Rear body dimensions Thickness and washer spacing
Electrical consideration Fan/non-fan dummy load Low/high-beam wiring verification
DRL / light guide Not the main retrofit feature Removed and restored
Main matching risk Wrong projector or electrical setup Wrong headlamp or projector position

Neither system should be treated as a universal Camry solution.

What Should a Retrofit Shop Check Before Ordering?

For a Toyota Camry retrofit inquiry, the following information can make matching much faster:

  1. Vehicle year
  2. Market or country
  3. Full front photo of the vehicle
  4. Close photo of the headlight
  5. Rear housing photo
  6. Headlamp label
  7. OEM or aftermarket housing
  8. Original projector photo
  9. Connector and wiring photo if needed

For the 2018–2022 LED headlamp, it is also useful to confirm:

  • fan or non-fan original projector;
  • available rear housing space;
  • replacement projector body dimensions.

For the 2024–2026 US-spec headlamp, confirm:

  • actual US-spec headlight configuration;
  • left/right bracket application;
  • projector body thickness;
  • trim and DRL structure.

A Camry Retrofit Should Be Matched to the Headlight, Not Just the Car

Toyota Camry is one model line, but these two documented headlight generations show how much the retrofit architecture can change.

The 2018–2022 LED setup is heavily influenced by rear housing clearance, original clip reuse and electrical matching.

The 2024–2026 US-spec setup uses a different bracket structure, different positioning logic and more interaction with the DRL and front trim.

That is why the most reliable starting point is not:

“Which bracket fits my Camry year?”

It is:

“Which headlight is actually on the vehicle?”

Once the headlight configuration is confirmed, the bracket, projector dimensions and electrical requirements can be matched much more accurately.

For retrofit shops and distributors, that simple change in the matching process can prevent many of the most common fitment problems before the parts are even ordered.
