Volkswagen Golf 8.5 Low-Trim Outer Projector Retrofit
A source-based reference for the pictured low-trim Golf 8.5 Hella headlamp, covering the outer bracket, factory-shroud options, original-source wiring and rear-housing installation.
Low-Trim Outer Projector Bracket Application
This reference is for the low-trim headlamp without the factory DRL-equipped shroud. The high-trim configuration is different and must not be assumed compatible.

- Factory light source retained
Confirm the headlamp does not have the high-trim DRL shroud.
Projector selection and forward spacing depend on whether the factory inner shroud is retained.
The planned inner dual-matrix solution is not part of this documented case.
Accessory Transfer, Beam Signals and Shroud Fitment
Transfer the Factory Accessory
Remove the pictured factory accessory and secure it to the matching position on the new bracket.
Verify Beam Polarity
The pictured circuit identifies low-beam positive, high-beam positive and a shared negative. Verify the vehicle before connection.
Choose the Shroud Strategy First
The factory inner shroud uses reserved bracket holes; a conventional 3-inch projector cannot be combined with it.

Golf 8.5 Low-Trim Installation Sequence
Open the Hella Cold-Sealed Headlamp
Open the factory Hella cold-sealed lens with controlled heat and an approved headlamp-opening process.
Remove the Outer Projector and Shroud
Remove the outer projector and factory shroud carefully, retaining all reusable parts and fasteners.
Check the Factory Inner-Shroud Option
Use the reserved bracket holes only with the compatible inner-shroud installation; a conventional 3-inch projector cannot retain this factory inner shroud.
Position the Projector without the Inner Shroud
If the inner shroud is omitted, move the projector forward by one guide post and prepare the additional bracket attachment shown.
Refit the Factory Silver Shroud
Secure both sides of the factory silver shroud and seat it fully downward around the projector.
Install the Bracket and Linkage
Install the bracket on the rear housing, connect the high-beam linkage rod and verify unobstructed operation before sealing.

Golf 8.5 Low-Trim Projector Retrofit FAQ
How can the low-trim Golf 8.5 headlamp be identified?
The low-trim factory shroud does not include the daytime-running-light guide found on the high-trim version. Confirm the headlamp configuration before ordering.
Which position does this bracket support?
Article 1491 documents the outer projector position of the pictured 2025–2026 Golf 8.5 low-trim headlamp.
Can the factory inner shroud be retained?
Yes, when its reserved mounting holes are used with a compatible projector and the pictured fitment method. A conventional 3-inch projector cannot be used with the factory inner shroud.
What if the factory inner shroud is removed?
The source shows moving the projector forward by one guide post, adding a radiator-nut bracket later and seating the factory silver outer shroud as low as possible.
Must the factory light source be retained?
Yes. Retain the factory source and use the specified isolated-negative wide-voltage harness.
Is the inner dual-matrix solution included?
No. The source says an inner dual-matrix solution is planned separately. This case documents only the pictured outer-position bracket.
