Volkswagen Golf 8 Quad-Projector Metal Kit Retrofit
A source-based reference for the pictured Golf 8 Hella headlamp, covering separate low/high-beam metal brackets, linked high-beam adjustment, H4 wide-voltage wiring, DRL clearance and shroud trimming.
Golf 8 Quad-Projector KitGolf 8 Dual-Position Projector Architecture
The supplied kit separates the low-beam and high-beam mounting positions and supports a complete four-projector conversion when the wiring and clearances are verified.
- Model
- Volkswagen Golf 8
- Year
- 2021 reference
- Housing
- Factory Hella cold-sealed unit shown
- Layout
- Low-beam and linked high-beam positions
- Harness
- H4 wide-voltage for quad-projector setup

Low-beam-only and high-beam-only layouts are possible; a single-pair conversion is preferably installed in the high-beam position.
A long-rear projector needs forward spacing and additional shroud trimming.
The high-beam position lamp source and top-trim spoon-shaped DRL headlamp are not universally confirmed.
Wiring, Linked Adjustment and Clearance Controls
Use the Verified Beam Inputs
The pictured connector identifies low-beam positive/negative and high-beam positive/negative inputs. Verify before connection.
Control Projector Depth
Use a short-rear projector in the high-beam position or space a longer unit forward and increase shroud clearance.
Recheck DRL Clearance
Reinstall the DRL after the controlled heat-sink cut and verify wiring, cooling and projector clearance.
Confirm the Headlamp and Retrofit Strategy before Cutting
Reference Applies To
- 2021 Volkswagen Golf 8 configuration shown
- Factory Hella cold-sealed housing pictured
- Matching low/high-beam metal bracket kit
- Quad-projector or verified single-position conversion
- Projectors with confirmed depth and shroud clearance
Not Automatically Confirmed
- Top-trim spoon-shaped DRL headlamp
- Retention of every high-beam position lamp source
- Long-rear projector without spacing or extra trimming
- Other Golf 8 years or headlamp manufacturers
- Unverified wiring polarity or beam alignment

Golf 8 Quad-Projector Installation Sequence
Open the Hella Cold-Sealed Headlamp
Open the factory Hella cold-sealed housing using controlled heat and approved headlamp-opening procedures.
Remove the Inner Reflector Bowl
Remove the inner lens and reflector-bowl assembly to expose the factory mounting structure.
Remove Only the Marked Fasteners
Remove the marked screws while keeping the red-circled trim-panel screws in place.
Secure the Projector and Linkage Rod
Install the high-beam bracket, projector and linkage rod, then confirm linked adjustment movement.
Modify the DRL Heat Sink Carefully
Bend the DRL wire and cut only the marked heat-sink area needed for projector clearance.
Trim and Fit the High-Beam Shroud
Trim the top and bottom of the high-beam shroud, reinstall the DRL and confirm there is no interference.

Match Both Projector Positions as One System
Low-Beam Metal Bracket Set
Confirm the dedicated low-beam left/right brackets, fasteners and trim panels.
High-Beam Metal Bracket Set
Use the linked-adjustment high-beam brackets and prefer a short-rear projector.
H4 Wide-Voltage Harness
For a four-projector conversion, retain the low-beam source and take the signal at the low-beam position.
Projectors, Shrouds and Hardware
Match projector depth, Type-A shrouds, plastic rivets, linkage pieces and all mounting hardware before opening the lamp.

Four-Projector Layout with Retained DRL Assembly
The completed reference shows the low- and high-beam projector positions installed behind the restored factory front trim.
- Low/high-beam metal brackets installed
- Linked high-beam adjustment retained
- Low-beam source retained for the quad-projector strategy
- DRL heat sink and shrouds trimmed only where required
- Beam pattern, aim, wiring and thermal clearance require final vehicle testing
Golf 8 Quad-Projector Retrofit FAQ
Can only one projector position be upgraded?
Yes. The source allows a low-beam-only or high-beam-only conversion. When installing one projector pair, the high-beam position is recommended.
What is required for the four-projector configuration?
Retain the low-beam light source and use an H4 wide-voltage harness, taking the control signal from the low-beam position as shown.
Which projector shape is recommended for the high-beam position?
A short-rear projector is recommended. A longer projector must be spaced forward and requires more trimming of the front shroud.
Can the high-beam position lamp source be retained?
This must be confirmed on the vehicle. The source does not guarantee retention for every headlamp configuration.
Is the top-trim spoon-shaped DRL headlamp confirmed?
No. Compatibility with the top-trim spoon-shaped DRL configuration remains unconfirmed and requires photos and physical verification.
How should the high-beam projector be aimed?
Use the low-beam cutoff and vehicle reference as the alignment baseline. Projector dimensions differ, so final aiming and clearance must be checked on the vehicle.
