Volkswagen Golf 8 High-Trim Quad-Projector Retrofit
A source-based reference for the pictured high-trim Golf 8 Valeo headlamp, covering separate outer/inner brackets, retained factory light sources, isolated-negative wiring and optional matrix adaptation.
High-Trim Outer and Inner Projector Architecture
The high-trim headlamp has a factory inner projector position. The kit supports separate outer-only, inner-only or complete four-projector configurations.
- Model
- Volkswagen Golf 8 high-trim
- Years
- 2021–2024 reference
- Housing
- Factory Valeo cold-sealed unit shown
- Positions
- Outer and inner projector brackets
- Harness
- Isolated-negative wide-voltage type
The original light source must remain connected for the shown wiring strategy.
The outer position or inner position may be converted separately.
For the inner position, a compatible Hella-to-matrix adapter can support verified matrix modules.
Bracket Retention, Signal Inputs and Matrix Options
Outer-Position Retaining Clips
Install all blue retaining clips in the illustrated outer-bracket locations.
Verify Isolated Beam Inputs
Take the signal from the outer module only after verifying low/high-beam positive and negative terminals.
Optional Inner Matrix Adaptation
The Hella-pattern adapter may support compatible one- or two-module matrix layouts or a high-beam projector.

Golf 8 High-Trim Quad-Projector Installation Sequence
Open the Valeo Cold-Sealed Headlamp
Open the factory Valeo cold-sealed lens using controlled heat and an approved headlamp-opening process.
Remove the Decorative Trim
Remove the front decorative trim carefully and preserve the original clips and mounting points.
Remove the Factory Projectors
Remove the factory outer and inner projector assemblies to expose the bracket mounting areas.
Install and Position the New Projectors
Mount the outer projector forward against the bracket; adjust the inner projector front-to-rear for clearance.
Select and Fit Compatible Shrouds
Choose shrouds that match the square projectors and verify clearance around the retained trim.
Verify Inner-Position Matrix Clearance
When using the Hella-to-matrix adapter, confirm the selected matrix module or projector does not block retained lighting functions.

- All retained lighting functions, aim and thermal behavior require final vehicle testing
Golf 8 High-Trim Quad-Projector Retrofit FAQ
Must the factory light source be retained?
Yes. Article 896 requires retaining the factory light source and using an isolated-negative wide-voltage harness.
Can only the outer or inner position be converted?
Yes. The outer position or inner position may be converted separately, or both positions may be used for a four-projector layout.
Which projector shape is recommended?
A square projector is recommended for this high-trim Golf 8 application, subject to physical clearance verification.
Can the inner position use a matrix module?
Yes. The source shows a universal Hella-to-matrix adapter that can support compatible matrix modules or a high-beam projector.
Where should the beam signal be taken?
Take the verified signal from the outer light-source module. Confirm low-beam and high-beam positive/negative terminals before connecting the isolated-negative harness.
Does the inner projector affect other functions?
It may block some light depending on its size and position. Test the retained factory source, clearance, thermal behavior and beam pattern before final sealing.
