From LED Reflector Bowls to Four Matrix Projectors in the 2024 Prado LC250

The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado LC250 does not use one universal headlight architecture.

One of the configurations we have documented is the LED reflector-bowl headlamp.

In this version, the retrofit is more than replacing one projector with another. The original reflector-bowl arrangement is removed and replaced with a dedicated four-projector matrix system built around a new internal carrier, base plates and compact projectors.

That makes this one of the more structural LC250 retrofit jobs in our case library.

It also explains why the original headlight configuration has to be confirmed before ordering anything.

This Retrofit Starts With a Reflector-Bowl Headlamp

The documented application applies to the pictured 2024 Prado LC250 LED reflector-bowl headlight.

The original lamp uses reflector bowls rather than the three-projector square layout or the round-headlamp arrangement found in other LC250 references.

That distinction is critical.

The retrofit kit is built around this reflector-bowl architecture and includes:

  • four matrix projectors;
  • a main support bracket;
  • base plates;
  • trim panels;
  • fasteners;
  • adjustment hardware.

The four projectors are documented in the 1.5–1.8 inch format.

You can see the complete system in the 2024 Prado LC250 LED reflector-bowl matrix retrofit case.

The Original Reflector Bowls Are Removed

Unlike the 2018–2019 Prado retrofit, where the original reflector bowl is retained, this LC250 setup goes in the opposite direction.

The original reflector-bowl assembly is removed.

That exposes the internal carrier area where the new base plate and matrix bracket system will be installed.

This is a good example of why retrofit logic cannot be carried over from one Prado generation to another.

The fact that both lamps use reflector elements does not mean the same approach applies.

For the 2024 LC250 configuration shown here, the reflector-bowl system is replaced by the four-projector matrix arrangement.

Controlled Cutting Is Part of the Preparation

The internal carrier requires preparation before the new hardware can be installed.

The documented procedure calls for removing only the highlighted ribs inside the housing.

This should be done carefully and in small increments.

The goal is not to “make space” by cutting broadly.

It is to remove only the material required for the base plate and bracket to sit correctly.

Excessive cutting can weaken the housing or create unnecessary fitment problems.

That is why the full LC250 installation reference should be followed together with the actual headlamp in front of the installer.

The Base Plate Creates the New Mounting Foundation

Once the reflector bowl is removed and the internal ribs are prepared, the next important part is the base plate.

The documented installation includes:

  • removal of the identified screw;
  • drilling at the specified position;
  • fitting the base plate;
  • installing supplied screws and adjuster hardware;
  • using extended screws;
  • sealing the recessed area after installation.

The base plate becomes the foundation for the main support bracket.

This is what allows the original reflector-based headlamp to accept the new multi-projector matrix carrier.

That is a much more controlled solution than trying to mount compact projectors directly onto the original reflector structure.

Four Compact Projectors Replace the Original Reflector Layout

The completed system uses four matrix projectors mounted to the dedicated carrier.

These are arranged as two matched pairs.

The documented size range is 1.5–1.8 inches.

That size information matters because a “small projector” description is not enough.

Projector body dimensions, mounting points and rear clearance still need to match the supplied carrier.

Once the four-projector assembly is secured, the lamp moves from a reflector-bowl layout to a compact multi-projector matrix architecture.

That is the defining change in this retrofit.

The DRL and Trim Are Restored After the Retrofit

A structural retrofit does not mean the original appearance has to be abandoned.

The documented LC250 setup restores:

  • upper trim panel;
  • lower trim panel;
  • daytime running light.

The DRL and trim components are returned after the matrix carrier is installed and aligned.

One identified screw is intentionally left loose until the trim is back in place, allowing the assembly to be positioned correctly before everything is tightened.

This detail matters because the retrofit has to work as a complete headlamp, not just as a projector carrier.

Wiring Still Needs to Be Verified

The case reference identifies three key electrical points:

  • blue connection — low beam;
  • red connection — high beam;
  • center red connector — low-beam light source.

These are useful reference points, but they should still be verified on the actual headlight.

Connector assignments can vary with:

  • region;
  • production variation;
  • previous repairs;
  • modified wiring.

For a professional retrofit shop, the safest approach is to test the circuits before final connection.

Mechanical fitment and electrical function should always be checked separately.

The Housing Uses Butyl Sealant

The documented LC250 headlamp uses OEM butyl sealant.

The housing is opened with heat and a scraper while preserving the lens channel and reusable sealing area.

That is important because this retrofit involves internal carrier work.

Once the projectors, bracket, trim and DRL are installed, the headlamp still needs to be resealed correctly.

Before closing the lamp, the shop should confirm:

  • low beam;
  • high beam;
  • projector alignment;
  • bracket security;
  • trim clearance;
  • DRL operation;
  • rear clearance.

The optical system should be fully tested before the housing is sealed again.

This Is Not the Same as the Other LC250 Headlights

The reflector-bowl configuration is only one of several LC250 headlamps we have documented.

The high-spec square-headlamp LC250 uses a three-projector carrier and retains adaptive components.

The round-headlamp LC250 uses side-specific brackets and a different DRL/clearance solution.

The reflector-bowl system should not be assumed to fit either of those lamps.

This is why an inquiry that simply says:

“2024 Prado LC250”

is not enough.

The original headlight must be identified first.

What to Check Before Ordering

For the reflector-bowl LC250 application, useful verification information includes:

  • vehicle year;
  • headlamp label;
  • front and rear housing photos;
  • original reflector bowls;
  • connector layout;
  • internal carrier;
  • projector dimensions;
  • DRL and trim structure.

The documented case does not automatically confirm:

  • other LC250 headlamp specifications;
  • other years;
  • regional carrier differences;
  • previously modified housings;
  • different projector body dimensions;
  • unverified connector assignments.

The 2024 Prado LC250 LED reflector-bowl matrix retrofit case remains the installation reference for this specific configuration.

A Complete Change in Internal Architecture

The biggest change in this LC250 retrofit is not simply adding more projectors.

It is the move from an OEM reflector-bowl system to a dedicated four-projector matrix architecture.

The original reflector bowls are removed.

A new mounting foundation is created.

Four compact projectors are installed on a dedicated carrier.

The original trim and DRL are then restored around the finished system.

For retrofit shops and distributors, the lesson is straightforward:

identify the reflector-bowl headlamp first, then match the complete matrix system to that specific configuration.

That is much more reliable than ordering parts from the words “Prado LC250” alone.
